Overweight truck burns up his brakes coming down mountain

This video demonstrates the dangers overweight trucks can pose to drivers on the highways. Here, an overweight truck burns up its breaks trying to control its decent down a steep grade West Virginia mountain. Currently, the maximum weight permitted by law is 80,000lbs but the trucking industry is lobbying Congress to increase that weight to 120,000lbs. This will pose a serious safety risk to the motoring public. Contact your local member of Congress and tell them NO to bigger truck sizes and weights and contact the Truck Safety Coaltion to find out how you can fight these increases. www.trucksafety.org

First step you should do is an exercise that is already part of your routine. Why not take the stairs going up to your office or the apartment instead of riding the elevator? It is a proven cardio exercise plus you can lose 300 calories from 30 minutes of taking the stairs.

Did I already say walking is a great cardio exercise? On a random weekend, do not choose a near parking spot when going to the mall. It will save you the hassle of driving around the parking area. Plus, it is a convenient form of exercise.

You must also be watchful of the food you eat. Avoid buying from the middle of the grocery store since this is where processed foods are stocked. Instead, go around the fringes of the grocery and look for fresh fruits, vegetables and dairy. There are a lot of healthy foods to choose from. Make sure that those are the ones that you put in your basket.

It would also be great if you have journal handy just so you can keep track of your exercises and your food intake. This way you can analyze from time to time your progress and the weak spots of your regimen.

Opt to prepare your own meals than dine out or order take outs. This way you are sure what you are eating plus you get to keep track of the serving. Speaking of serving, you must also know the normal serving of your food. Just so you know, a deck of cards is approximately the normal serving of meat and fish. Listen to your body. Do not eat more than you can chew.

Another diet modification would be to go gentle on soda and bread. While it would be better to altogether ditch bread, if you are going to eat bread, at least choose the whole grain bread. Furthermore, breaking a soda habit might be hard, but this is strongly advisable. As much as you can, do not substitute water with soda. Also, drinking eight ounce of water at least fifteen minutes before your meal will help take the edge off your hunger, thus making you eat less.
